For pumps used in environments with temperatures below 0℃, ATACH Pump Plant offers the following anti-freezing recommendations to prevent damage to the pump body due to the expansion of internal liquids when they freeze: 

Emptying the remaining water in the idle pump: For pumps that have been out of service for a long time, the residual liquid in the pump body and pipelines should be completely drained to prevent freezing at low temperatures, which could cause cracking of the pump body. 

Maintain continuous flow of cooling water: For centrifugal pumps that are still in operation or in hot standby mode, it is necessary to ensure that the cooling water system maintains a low flow rate to take advantage of the fluidity of water to reduce the risk of freezing. 

Thermal insulation or heating for the pump body: Wrap the pump body with insulation materials, or use steam or hot water heating systems to maintain the temperature of the pump body and key components above the freezing point. 

Backup pump keeps inlet and outlet flowing: For pumps in standby mode, the inlet and outlet valves should be kept open to allow for a slight circulation of the liquid within the system, preventing localized liquid from freezing. 

The core of these measures is to prevent liquids from freezing in the pump. This is achieved by methods such as emptying, flowing, insulation or heating to eliminate the risks of cracking.
