Why does ATACH Industrial Pump Factory always ask these three questions when receiving inquiries for oil transfer pumps?Time:2026-09-29 The primary reason lies in the unique considerations required for oil media, compared with clean water service. The key points are listed below:
Oils generally have a higher boiling point than clean water. We therefore first confirm the operating temperature of the customer’s medium. This avoids incorrect pump selection, or failures / complete pump breakdowns in service caused by sealing components unable to withstand the operating temperature.
Oils usually feature higher viscosity than water. Conventional centrifugal pumps are not suitable for high-viscosity oils; rotary pumps, gear pumps or other positive displacement pumps are often required instead.
Some oils have a lower specific gravity than water, such as gasoline and diesel. However, certain media like glycerin and hot coal tar are heavier than water. This factor must not be overlooked. Failing to account for it may result in excessive motor load and even motor burnout during operation. Of course, standard pumps parameters are also required, including flow rate, head, medium name, whether an explosion-proof motor is needed, VFD requirement, and power supply (3-phase, 380V, 50Hz), etc. In short, professional work should be handled by a professional team to ensure safe and reliable operation of the project. ATACH firmly believes in this principle and will always uphold it. |
